Who is texting you
Coda (Coda Outbound, legal entity 1001198571 Ontario Corp., codaoutbound.com) sends text messages in Coda's own name only. Every text is about a conversation you are having with Coda directly: a call you booked with us, a call one of us had with you, or a note you left on this site. We do not text anyone on behalf of another business, and no other business texts on our behalf.
What the texts are for
Meeting confirmations, meeting reminders, and direct follow-ups tied to the conversation you opted in from. We do not send marketing or promotional texts, we do not send cold or unsolicited texts, and we do not text anyone who has not agreed first. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive texts is never a condition of any purchase.
How you opt in
There are exactly two ways to opt in, and both put the full disclosure in front of you at the moment we take your number. They are separate lines and separate opt-ins: a yes on a call covers texts from Coda's main business number (meeting reminders and follow-ups); the button on this site opens a conversation on Coda's separate iMessage line, +1 617-710-6179, and nothing you enter on the site is used on the other line.
1. Verbally, on a call with Coda
Before any text is sent, the Coda team member on the call asks this, word for word:
“Is it OK if I text you from Coda about the meeting details and follow-up we discussed? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Our terms are at codaoutbound.com/terms and privacy at codaoutbound.com/privacy.”
We only send a text after you say yes. If you say no, we do not text you and we follow up by email instead. Your answer is recorded on your contact record in our CRM (Close) at the time of the call: the SMS Consent field is set to “Yes, verbal on call” or “No”, the SMS Consent Date is stamped, and the SMS Consent Note holds the wording used and your answer, next to the recorded call activity.
2. On this website, through the “iMessage / text Corey” button
This is a different line from the one above. The button opens a form that asks for your mobile number; the text you get back comes from +1 617-710-6179 (Coda's iMessage line), and that number is the only one this opt-in covers. On the same screen as the number field, before you can send, you tick an unchecked box that reads:
☐ I agree to receive text messages from Coda (Coda Outbound) at this number.
Texts come from Coda about your request and any meeting we set up: confirmations, reminders and follow-ups. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Terms · Privacy · Texting Policy
The form will not submit without the box ticked. The number, the time, the page you were on, and the exact sentence you agreed to are logged with the request. The first text you receive identifies Coda and repeats the STOP and HELP instructions.
Opting out
Reply STOP to any text at any time to opt out of future messages. You will get one confirmation text and nothing after it. Reply HELP for assistance, or email [email protected]. When you opt out we set your contact record to “Opted out (STOP)” so nobody at Coda texts that number again.
Privacy
Your phone number, your opt-in, and the content of our text conversation are used only to communicate with you about that conversation. We do not sell them and we do not share your mobile number or SMS opt-in with any third party or affiliate for their marketing purposes. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Terms
By agreeing on a call or ticking the box on this site, you consent to receive SMS messages from Coda related to that conversation. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Carrier charges may apply; contact your carrier for details on your messaging plan. Our full Terms of Service apply.
